NoteEXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 6: Part six of my extra special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. ZEMIRA BODALLA: This is the most beautiful specimen I have ever seen of this very rare, deep-water species. It is far rarer than the related Z. australis, and is undoubtedly lacking in the majority of the world's collections. Very seldom offered, especially with such beautiful colour as has the current specimen: ultra-rich caramel across an ivory ground. Completely natural outer apertural lip, exhibiting the characteristic ceras of the genus. Mammillate protoconch intact. A product of the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls, and now obtainable only from old collections. This is the ONLY specimen I have to offer, so this represents a rare opportunity to acquire this highly elusive endemic north-eastern Australian species. As Guido Poppe has stated in his on-line encyclopædia, 'a mythical shell'. Family: Pseudolividae. Size: 24.7 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Hixon Cay, Swain Reefs, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 250-350 m; trawled; 1984. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London.
