Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 6: Part six of my extra special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. CYMBIOLA FLAVICANS: The BEST of the best for this usually very rough endemic northern Australian species. Really splendid colour and pattern, particularly upon the columellar side of the body whorl, (see above right image). Aesthetically superior to the majority of specimens offered. Perfect outer apertural lip, with distinct characteristic 'notch' towards anterior. Perfect siphonal canal. Hypermature, with great weight to size ratio. Size: 75.4 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Off Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia; upon mud/sand/detritus substrate, at extreme seasonal low tide; 1982. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
