Item | # 0002103384 | Family | Cypraeidae | Name | Cypraea cernica - unusual light color , Sowerby,1870 |
Size | 19.6 mm |
Locality | Reunion Island |
Note | This is the subspecies C. cernica cernica, one of the 3 subspecies (as well as numerous forms) you will find in Feliz Lorenz's new cowrie books. It is a very light colored shell and it has the "swollen" and "flattened" look of several of the shells illustrated by Lorenz. The pale color on the dorsum camouflages the white spots of the dorsal pattern. It is a smaller size than average and it is in perfect condition. |
