Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 6: Part six of my extra special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. SEMICASSIS ADCOCKI: One of the BEST specimens I have ever seen, and retained within my private collection upon account of its possessing the most perfectly formed pattern possible: spiral bands of reddish chestnut squares across a lavender-white ground. This specimen is one of the very few which were trawled from slightly deeper water than the majority of known specimens, which were dived at approximately 30 m less depth. A treasured item from my private collection, to be passed now only to another connoisseur of the world's very BEST seashells. Size: 34.2 mm (length). Grading: Gem; w/o. Data: Venus Bay, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60 m; trawled; 1992. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
