Item | # 0002087299 |
Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Zoila venusta f. shoal cape form. - RICH GINGER RED SPECIMEN , (Sowerby, 1846) |
Size | 71.9 mm |
Locality | Shoal Cape, S.W. Australia. |
Note | It is not really appreciated just how rare the Shoal Cape venusta is to obtain in any reasonable quality. The location is a high energy ocean region with heavy swells and currents, with constant turbulent water. Even the best of the well known BLACK TOPS and GINGER/RED TOP venusta from this region have at least some fine to heavy silt pimples and nacre windows. This specimen is well above average in quality with a lovely rich pink dorsal coloured background and rich RED/GINGER dorsal markings. In addition, mantle lines are RARE on venusta and this specimen has a very distinct mantle line. Graded FINE++ with some really fine micro silting and a wedged crease and a growth step along dorsum under the mantle line high on labral margin. A really quality specimen and super attractive. Diver collected in 15M. in reef ledge, Shoal Cape, S.W. Australia. |
