Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 4: Part four of my extra special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. CYMBIOLENA MAGNIFICA: The BEST specimen I have ever seen of this rare form, exhibiting pale colours, an exceptional pattern, and particularly well-developed peripheral nodes. In my opinion, the above-mentioned features, taken collectively, suggest an affinity with rossiniana, and, via the current specimen, one may readily perceive how this species may have evolved into rossiniana in isolation in New Caldonia. Definitely for the advanced Volutidae specialist. (Note: To provide adequate protection in a very large parcel, I will round down postage for this enormous specimen to 40 EUR to anywhere in the world.) Size: 230 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Off Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-80 m; trawled; 1977. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
