NoteThis specimen is the only one of its kind that we have ever seen and we were finally able to trace it to a shell named by daMotta in "La Conchiglia" in 1991 that he named as a new species Conus friedae. There is a picture of the holotype on Hardy's website that you can see at http://www.gastropods.com/1/Shell_5011.shtml The shell is listed there as a form of Conus nobilis nobilis and that is probably to proper designation for it as a form rather than as a species. This shell has a thin scar about half way between the kid dorsum and the columella side of the ventrum from the shoulder for about 1/4 of the length of the body whorl but it is a live collected shell that is other wise in great condition. Cone collectors don't miss out on this one!
