NoteSPECIAL SALE – MASTERPIECES OF THE JES COLLECTION: Unquestionably one of the FINEST KNOWN specimens, this EXCEPTIONAL LIVE-COLLECTED GIANT establishes a NEW WORLD RECORD SIZE for this ULTRA-RARE endemic, deep-water north-eastern Australian species, representing a substantial increase upon the current WRS of 23 mm. RARE QUALITY, with the longest and best preserved canals I have ever encountered in this species, and with miniscule glassy mammillate protoconch INTACT. Exceptional live-collected colour: dusky pinkish burgundy canals; greyish white whorls. A product of the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls – never collected since – and now a highly coveted, almost impossible to obtain ‘collector’s item’. Data: Off Cape Moreton, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; trawled; 120-220 m; 1982. Size: 28.2 mm (longest dimension). Grading: Fine++++; w/o. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
