Hexaplex princeps TREMENDOUS SPINY FORM!!!
64.3 mm     Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mex.     39,00 €
Item# 0004292886
FamilyMuricidae
NameHexaplex princeps - TREMENDOUS SPINY FORM!!! , (Broderip, 1833)
Size64.3 mm, w/o
LocalityBarra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mex.
NoteTREMENDOUS SPINY CONDITIONS FOR THE SPECIES WOOOW!! Extremely Wide form combined with shape and spines. Somehow the spines in the ventral and dorsal shoulder are longer than the lip spines, rarely seen. Extra thick varices with formidable pattern banding between. Beautiful dense banding in the lip and dorsal side. Lip, spines, siphon and apex are really excellent. Some minor imperfections here and there not really harming this beauty. F+++. Open sea Hexaplex princeps are generally 99.9% completely ugly with classic dense erosion, missing spines all around, dense drill holes, no coloration or pattern, and thick calcareous organisms attached all around them almost impossible to remove, that is the common Hexaplex princeps. However, on very rare occasions and in very enclosed bays or lagoon mouths that are open to the sea, there are individuals with great condition, but finding them is always a mystery and really hard. With my years of experience and luck, I know of some places where they sometimes appear in ideal and striking conditions. Here I present this unique and unusual top selection for the species, choose your favorite in this great auction. For any MURICIDAE lovers of aesthetics and advancer collectors. Found attached on, under and between large muddy stones with oysters and mussels about 5m- 8m deep. Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mexico. August 2026. Estimated value between 35-40 euros. Good luck and Happy shelling!!! MEXICO PACIFIC
