Note
Impressive form, thick nacred, solid and cream primary hued specimen of this rare Australian deep water form. Remarkable and classic shell with characteristic convex base, modestly depressed and inflated oval body with rounded margins featuring a wide dorsal line. The heavily nacred specimen shows a sparsely sprinkled buff brown spotted blotch and a strong weight/size ratio (40.9 grams). The kostini demonstrates mild pastel orange flawless extremities, soft ivory/nude dorsal primary pigmentation and a porcelain white base. Collected by ROV at 145 meters on flat sandy, shale/rubble substrate among sparse small sponges, fine weeds south of Augusta, Western Australia in 11/2025. The specimen shows one subtle, barely palpable, small dull nacre area on the labral anterior ramp and hard to notice micro blemish on the base. Grade: F+++/GEM.
