An EXCEPTIONAL specimen of the PANAMIC FORM of this beautiful subspecies, from the ‘old days’ of deep-water Panamic dredging. SPECTACULAR COLOUR: luminous orange-apricot, with rosy pink apex – a supremely harmonious combination. RARE QUALITY, with no erosion, nor encrustation to spire. (NOTE: An error is often committed, whereby the form ‘lineolatus’, (with ultra-fine axial lines), is referred to as ‘apogrammatus’, whereas TRUE apogrammatus is characterised by the ABSENCE of axial lines.) Data: Canal de Jicaron, off Playa de Barco Quebrado, Isla de Coiba, Montijo, Veraguas, Panamá; upon sand/mud substrate; 18 m; dredged; 1991. Size: 34.9 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
