Umbilia hesitata - RARE SMALL VIC. FORM , Iredale, 1916
Size
67.5 mm
Locality
Australia
Note
An EXCEPTIONAL specimen of the very small variety of the Victorian form, (possibly representing the male of the species). Hypermature at this diminutive size, with marked weight and solidity. Extremely capricornica-like in form, and dorsal pattern. Not freshly collected for three decades, and now obtainable only from choice old collections. It is very difficult to obtain this form at this level of size, quality, and beauty. A special hesitata for the Umbilia connoisseur. Data: Bass Strait, off Lakes Entrance, Gippsland, Victoria, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-120 m; trawled; 1987. Size: 67.5 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
