NoteThis EXCEPTIONAL GIANT is one of the LARGEST and FINEST of the JES Collection, and the ONLY giant of this colour form. RARE COLOUR: dorsum with prolific straw maculae, across a pinkish white ground, with distinctly dusky pink terminals, and white ventrum. RARE SIZE: examples exceeding 105 mm are rare, with this rarity being enhanced via the special colour of the specimen. Hypermature, with extreme weight and solidity, creating a massive presence in the hand, and in display. RARE QUALITY for the species, size, locality, and collection method. Dentition devoid of inclusions. A ‘museum piece’ giant hesitata for the Umbilia connoisseur. Data: Bass Strait, off Gabo Island, Gippsland, Victoria, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-120 m; trawled; 1992. Size: 107.6 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
