NoteA superb specimen of this RARE and seldom offered, deep-water, endemic eastern African species. Typically very dead-collected, with substantial erosion, loss, substrate discoloration, and growth disruptions, the current specimen, by contrast, is of exemplary quality, with an intact apex, and no trawl damage to the anterior canal. Characteristic weight and solidity. Only available during the late 1980s to early 1990s, obtained by Russian trawlers operating of the Somalian coast. HISTORICAL NOTE: Rosavittoria Todaro was a Russian typist, who acquired, and provided to Dr. Rehder, the examples upon which the species description is based. I acquired this specimen directly from a Somalian source in 1987. Data: Off Mogadishu, Banaaddir, Somalia; upon sand/mud substrate; 100-200 m; trawled; 1987. Size: 41.3 mm. Grading: Fine++ (one minor disruption to ventrum of body whorl). Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
