Gelagna succincta - NEW WORLD RECORD SIZE , (Linnaeus, C., 1771)
Size
74.3 mm
Locality
Philippines
Note
This almost UNBELIEVABLE specimen represents a NEW WORLD RECORD SIZE for the species, constituting a substantial increase upon the current official WRS of 71.41 mm. Yet, even more remarkable than its incredible size, is its quality – PERFECTION. Ultra-rich colour, with an external surface texture reminiscent of carved wood. Unquestionably the FINEST KNOWN SPECIMEN. For the Ranellidae specialist, or collector of WRS / giant-sized shells. Data: Off Laminusa, Sulu Archipelago, Mindanao, Philippines; upon sand/rubble substrate; 12 m; dived; 2001. Size: 74.3 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
