THIRD BIGGEST OUT OF 200. From an unusual locality for this species: Zamboanga. An ultra fine specimen of the female form. The Tutufa tenuigranosa is one of the larger Bursidae and lives in deep water. There are a few localities in the Philippines where huge numbers live together in the dark depths, as fishermen can fish quantities with tangle nets. The tenuigranosa is rare outside the Philippines: we know of only sporadic shells here and there and 9 shells have been figured in recent popular literature. It is only hard to get because of the depth. Masterpiece for the display shelf, superb quality and rare size. The shell weighs 390 g.
