Item | # 0003334686 | Family | Cypraeidae | Name | Macrocypraea cervus - VERY RARE PATTERN , (Linnaeus, 1771) |
Size | 116.55 mm |
Locality | Celestún, Yucatan, Mexico |
Note | An extremely unique specimen, instead of having one dorsal line, it has two of them that cross over with each other and give it an extremely unique look. This is what I could call a genuinely rare specimen of Macrocypraea cervus, I had never seen any specimen with a pattern like this after having handled dozens of specimens of this species.
If you’re a Cypraeidae enthusiast, then acquiring this shell is an opportunity that you do not wanna miss, as this specimen is a real wonder of nature, and another piece exactly like this one is unlikely to appear.
Condition is F+++.
The shell was live-collected by local Yucatan divers. Full specific data will be provided in a data tag with the shell. |
