Note | This was the first tertiary mollusc to be described from Australia and is the most widespread fossil umbilia and very variable in shell morphology.
Stunning fossil Umbilia collected from the Batesford Quarry near Geelong in Victoria. Pristine specimen collected from early middle Miocene (14 to 24 million years old) highly fossiliferous white siltstone in the Quarry.
This is as good a specimen as one could hope to acquire !!! |
