Note | One very nice specimen of Tetrapygus niger, an endemic urchin of Chile and PerĂº. This is the complete test with spines (and apical system) from a specimen washed ashore at a beach in northern Chile. The maximum size, considering the spines is about 97 mm width, while the test measures about 60 mm. These tests are the skeletal structure of the sea urchins and in living specimens they contain their soft parts and support their spines. This is a nice sea urchin perfect for your Natural History Cabinet or Wunderkammer. |
