Exquisite ovate specimen with calloused margins and classic egg-shell white lateral wall spotting. Unlike many specimens of this particular geographically limited subspecies, this shell displays a rather distinct dorsal pattern with a moderate size/weight ratio. The gorgeous dorsum shows a primary blush/red color with a darker reticulated and netted pattern and three light subtle transverse dorsal bands. The shell exhibits perfect
extremities, dorsum and a light brown-toned base. Dreged from deeper water off Somalia, East Africa circa 2000. An uncommon subspecies from a very unstable area due to military and political turmoil. Broderipii somalica may no longer be obtainable from this particular region. The specimen comes with the original data slip from Felix Lorenz with relevant historical information. There are some minor nacre blemishes on the labral base. Grade: GEM minus.
