Note | Striking and massive specimen from the deep water. Beautiful shades of garnet and versions of terracotta red/pink highlight the pattern of this heavy volute. The shell is solid, super heavy, shows a fantastic gloss, has excellent rounded knobs on the shoulders and exhibits an intricate undulated longitudinal pin-striping pattern throughout the body whorl. The natural lip is moderately thick with a standout aperture tangerine/orange color trim. Trapped by fishermen using tangle nets off Pilas Island, Mindanao, Philippines at 100-120 meters in 2018. A bit of roughness on the sharp anterior lip. There are also two smaller chips on the anterior notch. Grade: F+++. |
