| Note | Large, inflated, hyper-calloused and collectible classic member of this striking Hawaiian species. Brilliant color, thick nacre and superb reticulated pattern. Heavy shell, with thick calloused margins with tubercules and beautiful dark spotting extending over the margins and peripheral base. A solid massive shell with a strong weight/size ratio. The maculifera shows perfect extremities and dorsum. Collected off Kaena Point. Oahu, Hawaii on night dive while cruising under a coral outcropping ledge at 10-12 meters in 11/2016. The shell shows an area of soft white flecks mid-lateral wall and base, labral side and a micro-repaired chip on the anterior extremity, base/columellar side. Grade: F+++. |
