Item | # 0003326559 |
Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Umbilia hesitata hesitata - IMPRESSIVE , Iredale 1916 |
Size | 101.2 mm |
Locality | Disaster Bay, NSW, Australia |
Note | An exceptional large elongate specimen with subdued dorsal patterning and hyper-dark spotting concentrated on the lateral walls and extremities. The impressive sienna/light brown blotching/patterning is painted over the entire cream white dorsum. The consistent dark spotting along the lateral walls intensifies on the columellar side. The anterior extremity has a classic transverse groove and both extremities are darkly pigmented, making this a standout specimen. Collected by trawler off Disaster Bay, New South Wales, Australia at 80-100 meters in 3/2007. There are evident a negligible self-repaired area on the posterior columellar interior channel and two small silt stains between the labral teeth. Grade F+++. |
