Item | # 0003301279 | Family | Fissurellidae | Name | Fissurella crassa , Lamarck, 1822 |
Size | 59, 57, and 56 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | Three nice specimens of Fissurella crassa. Large Fissurella species in northern Chile are actively collected by fishermen, so they often have nicks and damages on the border of the lip, and they are always found with scurria scars on the shells. This lot includes 3 specimens in good condition for the species, as they have a nice border of the shell with no nicks but natural dorsums slightly eroded, and two of them with a Scurria scar each, however they have a very nice interior of the shell, of rather strange purplish and grey hue near the foramen. A nice lot for a very low price. |
