Item | # 0003301263 | Family | OTHER | Name | Scurria variabilis , (d'Orbigny, 1841) |
Size | 18 to 14 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | Five very nice and selected specimens of Scurria variabilis f. parasitica. These little limpets live almost exclusively onto the shells of other gastropods, in this case on shells of Fissurella species (and also on other Scurria species). Scurria variabilis includes a lot of forms, previously described as species, having a wide variety of patterns and colors in their shells. They are prone to damage as the edges of their edges are very fine, sharp and finely serrated. These particular specimens are in very good condition for the species, and they include a few of them with a chocolate interior, termed "coffea" by Marincovich (1973), and I am here offering them at a very low price. |
