There has been no supply of deep-sea material from Balicasag for a long time. This species originates from nearby Panglao, but probably from far off the coast, as Manou de Suduiraut said that he caught a few specimens between Pamilacan and Balicasag at a depth of +300 metres. M. salva is an extremely rare species that lives very deep and has only been shown a few times in the literature. One of the extremely rare and better known specimens.
Philippines. Bohol. Panglao. Tangle nets, 250-350 m. 2012.
