Item | # 0003289928 |
Family | Olividae |
Name | Felicioliva peruviana fulgurata - Giant , Martens, E.C. von, 1869 |
Size | 48.2 mm |
Locality | Puerto Viejo, Atacama, Chile |
Note | One very large, perhaps a world record size, of the only Olividae found in Chile: Felicioliva peruviana forma fulgurata. This species is found only in sandy beaches, and its patterns are very variable. This specimen is in very good condition for its size: it has eroded first whorls and slight erosion on the anterior side (which are more noticeable in the photos that in hand, as it is a shiny shell), but it is the largest fulgurata that I have ever found. A nice and impressive specimen for your collection. |
