Size | 288 mm |
Locality | China |
Note | A very nice specimen of the world's largest freshwater mollusk: the colossal bivalve Cristaria plicata. This is a very nice and interesting species of freswater clam, collected from Zhejiang, East China. The extremelly large shell has a nice periostracum and it is rather light for its size. The shell is in very good condition, with a single damage to the border in its anterior part, but this is mostly damage to the periostracum, which extends from the border of the shell.
These species are difficult to obtain, and they are somewhat fragile.
This is a very nice Natural History Item for your collection, the largest freshwater clam in the world. |
