Family | Volutidae |
Name | Amoria damonii keatsiana - RARE DEEP WATER FORM. , LIGHT IN WEIGHT. (Gray, 1864) |
Size | 92.6 mm |
Locality | Timor Sea, Darwin, N. Territory. |
Note | Although dead taken with the columellar tail chipped, this LARGE damoni keatsiana was never particularly dark and was always quite pale with a very open pattern. Interestingly the reason I say this is that there is little erosion, a little dullness, but still some great lustre on the shell. Having been trawled in 139M. is the reason for its pale colour and its very light weight for its size. It is also quite transparent, a true deep water specimen. Trawled in 139M. in the Timor Sea off Darwin, Northern Territory. |
