Size | 45.2 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | This ultra-large and truly outstanding specimen is the BEST I have ever handled of this incredibly beautiful and much sought after endemic western Australian species. Atypically rich colour: undulating reddish chestnut axial lines across an ivory ground. Striking minimalist pattern, formed with supreme regularity. PERFECT outer apertural lip and siphonal canal. The very rare locality whence the specimen comes now forms part of a nature reserve, and no fresh specimens will be available in future. Now extremely difficult to obtain at this size and quality, coming only from choice old collections. Absolute perfection, in a truly exceptional specimen, for the Volutidae connoisseur, and the ONLY such specimen I can offer. Size: 45.2 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Karri Islands Group, Montebello Islands, Western Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate, at extreme low tide; 1994. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
