Item | # 0002373315 | Family | Xenophoridae | Name | Xenophora solarioides - UNCOMMON PETITE SPECIES , OUTSTANDING. (Reeve, 1845) |
Size | 26.2 mm |
Locality | Dingo Beach, Queensland. |
Note | This is a species that is possibly the smallest of the Xenophora genus. The W.R.LARGEST is only 58mm from the Philippine populations which is really not huge. On offer is a wonderful, petite specimen from the Queensland population, that is even smaller than the Philippine specimens. The Queensland specimens are very uncommon today and rarely offered. This specimen has a full complement of attached stones and shell pieces. Often a piece or two are missing which unbalances its appearance, but this specimen is complete and cylindrical. Diver collected on sandy substrate in 20M. off Dingo Beach, Queensland. |
