Size | 94 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | One of the most exceptional specimens I have ever seen of the small, deep-water, Venus Bay form - the most beautiful incarnation of this endemic southern Australian species. Always exhibiting exquisite hues of pink, peach and lemon, the current specimen is of atypical beauty in this respect. Fully mature, greatly thickened outer apertural lip. The BEST of the best for the Volutidae specialist. Size: 94 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Venus Bay, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 40-50 m; trawled; 1999. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
