Size | 33.7 mm, w/o |
Locality | Australia |
Note | The BEST specimen I have ever handled of the REAL duffusi - an eastern Australian endemic species. Ultra-large size for this diminutive species. Exceedingly elongate principal spine of varices, creating a markedly broad overall appearance. Exceptional state of preservation for a deep-water trawled specimen, especially with regards the siphonal canals. Fresh specimens of this large and spectacular form will never again be available, as the region whence it comes is now protected under the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Definitely for the advanced Muricidae specialist. Size: 33.7 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Coffs Harbour, Mid North Coast, New South Wales, Australia; upon sand substrate; 30-70 m; trawled; 1986. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
