Note | SPECIAL FULGETRUM FEATURE: This sale features a selection of rare and unusual forms from my private collection of fulgetrum variants. A unique opportunity for the Volutidae specialist. SPECIMEN 9. A magnificent specimen of a deep-water form: extremely nebulous pattern in ultra-pale tan, discernible only upon close inspection, thus, at first glance creating the appearance of a patternless shell. Beautiful pale pink, with creamy orange apertural interior. Fully mature and virtually perfect outer apertural lip and siphonal canal. One very light typical axial growth disruption upon an early whorl. One of my favourite fulgetrum. Size: 129.6 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Evans Island, Nuyts Archipelago, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-120 m; trawled; 1995. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
