| Note | EXCEPTIONAL JES PRIVATE COLLECTION SPECIMEN: This sale includes five exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing a rare opportunity to create your own price for extremely high-value shells. CYMBIOLA IRVINAE: The deep-water, giant sized, Great Australian Bight form of irvinae is the most beautiful and coveted of all irvinae forms ... but it is extremely rare in live-collected condition, and virtually never offered on the world market. Usually collected dead, and in very poor condition, the current specimen is one of the BEST known examples, being live-collected, and of exceptional quality for this typically very rough, trawled, deep-water form, with nothing but the most minimal, inevitable loss to a few peripheral spines, and a couple of small irregularities. Magnificent, live-collected colour: indescribably intense rich reddish orange ground, (only fully appreciated 'in the hand'), decorated with innumerable flecks of pinkish white, and two broad spiral bands of chestnut flecks. A probably never to be repeated opportunity for the advanced Volutidae collector to acquire one of the best known examples of the Great Australian Bight form. Size: 104.5 mm (length). Grading: F++++.
