| Note | The partner, from my private collection, to the outstanding GIANT I sold in the previous auction, of rare quality for such enormous size. This specimen represents a darker colour form to the previous example. Pattern formed with supreme regularity. Perfect outer apertural lip. Nothing but one light, typical growth disruption to an early whorl, and micro predatory mark to spire, almost always present in this species. A product of the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls, and now obtainable only from choice old collections. Size: 91.9 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Swain Reefs, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-80 m; trawled; 1982. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
