Item | # 0002202513 |
Family | Turbinidae |
Name | Angaria delphinus - WEST AUST., LONG SPINES. , (Linnaeus, 1758) |
Size | 66.0 mm |
Locality | Dampier, N.W. Australia. |
Note | There are extraordinary variation in the development of the spines in some populations of this species on the Northern Coast of Western Australia. This specimen is from a region of Port Hedland and is known for the lovely long spines. Very difficult to find with heavy coraline growth and erosion. This specimen is particularly high quality for the species with full spire and complete spines. Only a small patch of erosion on the under side. Intertidal collected in rock/mud/sand substrate always close to the high tide line, hence the erosion to weather and marine growth. |
