Family | Volutidae |
Name | Amoria grayi - ULTRA RARE LOCATION , (Ludbrook, 1953) |
Size | 76.0 mm |
Locality | Great Australian Bight. |
Note | 77.0 mm, Great Australian Bight, Few specimens of Amoria grayi have been found in the Great Australian Bight. Close observation shows soft gold bands across the main body swirl. The spire is particularly extended and it has a stronger gold sediment pigment down towards the anterior dorsal view. It is particular light in weight compared to its size a result most likely to its depth of collection. It has some natural growth step above the lip generated naturally by the animal in its later development. Unfortunately the columellar tail is chipped, but still a very interesting specimen. Trawled in 136M, Great Australian Bight. |
