Size | 64.2 mm, w/o |
Locality | Australia |
Note | Unbeknownst to most collectors, (even many Muricidae specialists), this species, of which virtually every known example comes from the Philippines, ranges into the deep waters off the northern Queensland coast, where it is very rare, and where it assumes an exquisite pale palette, utterly different to Philippine examples. Exceptional state of preservation. Pink apex and protoconch intact. Now obtainable only from choice old collections. A chance for a Muricidae specialist to acquire a BEST of the best Queensland specimen, undoubtedly lacking in their collection. Size: 64.2 mm (length). Grading: Gem; w/o. Data: Leopard Reef, Queensland, Australia; upon coarse coral sand/rubble substrate; 40-80 m; dredged; 1984. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
