Note | An outstanding ultra-large specimen, (almost touching 60 mm), of the highest possible quality for this endemic northern Australian species. Ultra-recurved, wildly branching varical fronds of most graceful formation. Supremely balanced proportions. Exceptional state of preservation, with nothing but the most minor, typical, and negligible loss, unavoidable in this species. Perfect, ultra-elongate siphonal canal. Pin-point, pinkish protoconch intact. Painstakingly cleaned, with no encrustation. Definitely for the Muricidae specialist, or collector of truly exquisite seashells. Size: 59.7 mm (length). Grading: F++++; w/o. Data: Dampier, Western Australia, Australia; upon silty sand/mud/detritus substrate, at extreme seasonal low tide; 1984. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
