Note | An outstanding specimen of this endemic Australian species from a rare locality. Atypically high spire, with steep apical angle. Ultra-rich colour: alternating fine spiral bands of vivid purplish pink and lemon, with large, free-form maculations of reddish caramel, to spectacular aesthetic effect. Exquisite bead-like sculpture. A supremely beautiful shell when seen like this. Size: mm (longest dimension). Grading: F++++. Data: Off Wedge Island, Gambier Islands, Spencer Gulf, Yorke Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon reef/rubble substrate, amongst seaweed; 20 m; craypot; 1996. |
