Item | # 0002179342 | Family | Cypraeidae | Name | Zoila venusta - RARE COLOUR FORM; BIG , Sowerby I, 1847 |
Size | 72.3 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | A superb, large specimen of a beautiful pale colour form: large, free-form pale tan dorsal maculae across an ivory ground, with margins of bluish white, decorated with sporadic cinnamon maculae. A couple of tiny nacre issues, probably caused by lost inclusions, but otherwise exemplary. Hypermature, with dorsal malleation. Such colour forms are much coveted by Australian Zoila collectors and are, indeed, the most beautiful incarnation of the species. Size: 72.3 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Albany, Western Australia, Australia; upon reef substrate, upon sponge; 22 m; dived; 2001. |
