Size | 195 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | Unquestionably one of the BEST specimens I have ever seen of this endemic, Queensland subspecies. Very large size. Exceptional dense pattern formed with rare regularity. Rich caramel pattern across a yellowish ivory ground, with delicate pink early whorls. Fully mature outer apertural lip and siphonal canal, with only the most minimal smoothing. A product of the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls, and now obtainable only from old collections. A rare example for the connoisseur. Size: 195 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Swain Reefs, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-80 m; trawled; 1982. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
