Note | A superb giant, in beautiful shades of pale blue and blue-green, with pinkish white spiral bands. Solid and heavy for size. Protoconch intact. Its locality has long formed part of the Capricornia Cays National Park, and fresh specimens have not been available for decades, in addition to the inherent scarcity, even in the past, of such giant examples. Now obtainable only from old collections. For the Conidae specialist. Size: 35.3 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Tryon Island, Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia; upon coral reef substrate, under coral slab at extreme low tide; 1973. |
