Note | NOTE: Special sales dispersing exceptional specimens from my private collection, along with highlights from my high quality stock, will continue indefinitely, without this initial notice. NOTOVOLUTA GARDNERI: An extremely large and outstanding specimen of the ultra-rare unbanded form. Unbanded examples occur at an exceedingly small ratio in comparison with typical, banded specimens, and of those which were found, few are of the size and quality of the current example. One tiny, typical predatory mark to an early whorl, otherwise perfection. Exceptionally beautiful pattern, formed with supreme regularity. Collected during the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls, and now obtainable only from choice old collections. For the Volutidae specialist wishing to acquire a BEST of the best example of this ultra-rare form. Size: 84.6 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Off Hixon Cay, Queensland, Australia; upon sand/rubble substrate 80-120 m; trawled; 1982. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
