Note | SPECIAL SALE - PART 8: Part eight of my current special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. AMORIA ZEBRA: A large and superb specimen of the more southerly New South Wales form. The NSW form has a broader, more squat and heavy shell than Queensland forms, with a cream ground and dark chocolate axial stripes. Perfect, fully mature outer apertural lip, and none of the typical damage to the ultra-delicate siphonal canal. Pattern formed with uncommon regularity. The specimen was formerly in the renowned Tom Nielsen collection, and the original 1978 Nielsen label accompanies the specimen. Size: 44.5 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Tweed Heads, New South Wales, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-80 m; trawled; 1982. Provenance: 1. Tom Nielsen private collection, Queensland, Australia; 2. JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
