Note | SPECIAL SALE - PART 8: Part eight of my current special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. CONUS SCULLETTI: One of the BEST and most aesthetically pleasing patterns I have ever seen upon this endemic, deep-water Queensland species. The Conidae specialist will know that this species is typically afflicted with serious growth damage, due to its delicate outer lip and extremely rough habitat. The current specimen has only minimal disruptions, (one near the outer apertural lip, and one upon the columellar side of the body whorl). Collected during the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls, and now obtainable only from old collections. Size: 40.2 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Cape Moreton, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-120 m; trawled; 1983. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
