PAPUINA CHANCEI: Always an uncommon species, even during its availability in the 1970s, but now very rare, (especially in such size, quality and colours as the current specimen), coming only from old collections. The specimen was collected by Nakanai natives in the mountainous regions of New Britain. Café au lait, chocolate, bluish lavender, and blackish burgundy early whorls. Perfect outer apertural lip. The BEST of the best for the landsnail specialist. Size: 30.3 mm (longest dimension). Grading: Gem. Data: Nakanai Mountain Range, New Britain, Bismarck Archipelago, Papua New Guinea; amongst leaf litter in rainforest region; hand-foraged; 1971.
