Note | SPECIAL SALE - PART 8: Part eight of my current special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. MELO MILTONIS: This truly beautiful specimen of this endemic Australian species, exhibits the BEST colour and pattern I have ever observed in the species. The colour is an atypical caramel-ochre, (as opposed to the typical reddish brown), and the pattern is particularly striking and well-formed. Minimal smoothing and one tiny crack line to outer apertural lip. Tiny natural loss at siphonal canal. A unique miltonis for the Volutidae specialist interested in colour / pattern variations. Size: 195 mm (length). Grading: F++. Data: Off Augusta, Western Australia, Australia; upon sand/rubble substrate; 16 m; dived; 1990. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
