Note | SPECIAL SALE - PART 8: Part eight of my current special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. CONUS CORONATUS: At nearly 45 mm, this incredible and beautiful giant is the BEST of all the ultra-big size Western Australian coronatus I have ever handled. Hypermature. Ultra-solid, with great weight to size ratio. Markedly symmetrical, inflated, bulbous form. Ultra-rich colours and superb pattern. Note: The current official World Record Size specimen is a freak shell, with an atypically extended spire, whereas the current specimen is a normally formed example, thereby undoubtedly rendering it one of the largest known examples of the species. Size: 44.8 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Cape Keraudren, Western Australia, Australia; upon reef substrate, under slab, amongst sand and seagrass, at extreme seasonal low tide; 1990. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
